About - Montessori Brand Concept

Designed for the modern parent, The Avventura School reimagines the century-old practices of Montessori education. This new brand concept was born from a shared desire to provide authentic, certified Montessori teachings within a beautifully considered environment — one that challenges the notion of education spaces as cold institutions. The Avventura School champions the unique learning arc of every child, offering flexibility, premium care, and a deep partnership with families. 
As lead designer and client manager for this project, I guided the strategic brand vision, directed the identity system and signage design, and managed the design execution from the interior design team.

The Concept - Beautiful Adventure

At the core, the brand promises to be the steady guide in each family’s education adventure. Through naming workshops, we landed on “Avventura” — Latin for adventure — a metaphor for Montessori’s encouragement of curiosity, independence, and discovery. To honor the authentic Montessori nature of the school, Italian design motifs are woven into the brand language and design. Flexibility and calmness – core to Montessori environments – appeared through Wabi Sabi inspired elements, layered textures, and soft, organic forms that embrace the idea of a perfectly imperfect journey. 
The logo features a compass whose points transform into butterfly wings, symbolizing orientation, exploration, and metamorphosis. 
After studying the intended market and demographics for the school, the brand was crafted to feel elegant and inspirational, warm and welcoming, and deeply rooted in purpose. 
Environmental graphics and interior design details carry these themes forward — creating a cohesive brand experience that not only informs but inspires.

About - Miami Preschool

As early education evolves globally, KLA Schools stands at the forefront of innovation in the United States — pushing beyond traditional learning environments to empower creativity, curiosity, and community belonging. Rooted deeply in Miami’s rich cultural identity, the brand consistently challenges the industry status quo through its contemporary approach to environment-as-educator. Looking ahead into the future, this education brand taught a comprehensive evolution of its brand and facility design — one that would amplify its pioneering reputation while celebrating the individuality of each school community. 
 I directed the creative vision and brand strategy, serving as the central liaison between stakeholders and creative teams.

The Concept - Inspired Environments

The heart of the concept is a belief that inspiring design fuels inspired learning. We elevated often-overlooked architectural moments — ceilings, corridors, gathering spaces — transforming them into playful storytelling and shared discovery. After researching education centers around the globe, contemporary Italian architecture, and Miami neighborhood culture, the design direction resulted in a learning environment that cultivated curiosity through shape, light, materiality, and biophillic design elements.
The evolved brand identity took inspiration from the existing punchy candy-colored pastels and also from the rounded-modular designer furniture forms found in gathering spaces iconic to KLA, using soft-edged shapes that support interaction while maintaining independence. The balance scalable brand consistency with local expression, a tiered visual system was developed by designing a core lobby storytelling package implemented at each school and artistic inserts like murals and poetry by neighborhood creators. 
Focused on key student and family touchpoints, the interiors experience featured a welcoming and brand-focused lobby, collaborative park-like hallways, and classrooms that spark imagination. Unique plant installations, custom lighting, and sculptural ceiling elements set the school apart with forward-thinking design while also echoing community diversity. 
Together, the design direction created an elevated spatial experience and provides KLA Schools with a future-ready roadmap positioned for continued innovation and lasting community impact.
